San Diego, CA – (October 2, 2020) — Metal Supermarkets, the world’s largest supplier of small-quantity metals, will open its 100th store at 1520 Corporate Center Drive in San Diego on Monday, October 5. Metal Supermarkets San Diego (South) offers customers instant access to any metal, cut to size and ready fast, with no minimum order quantity.

In addition to this being Metal Supermarkets’ landmark 100th store, the San Diego location will be the 69th store in the United States, and the second in California. Metal Supermarkets also has 24 stores in Canada and seven in the United Kingdom.

Metal Supermarkets serves a wide range of customers across numerous industries, including tool and die shops, manufacturers, maintenance managers, fabricators, machine shops, contractors, construction companies, military, education and other government departments, as well as hobbyists, artists, and homeowners. As an essential business, Metal Supermarkets locations have been open and operating throughout the pandemic in accordance with applicable safety guidelines.

Metal Supermarkets stocks a diverse selection of metal types including hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, and aluminum in a wide variety of shapes including bar, tube, sheet, plate and more. The San Diego store also offers value-added services such as production saw-cutting, shearing, and same-day delivery.

“The California market holds tremendous potential for our business and we are excited to be able to provide consumers and businesses in San Diego with a variety of metal products and services with speed and convenience” said Stephen Schober, President and CEO of Metal Supermarkets. “Our San Diego location is our second store in California, but also the milestone 100th Metal Supermarkets store. Metal Supermarkets has been pursuing an aggressive growth strategy throughout 2020 as our essential business status, combined with strong customer demand for our products and services despite the pandemic, make our business successful.”

The new store will be owned by Maria Montalvo, who was born and raised in the San Diego area and has a professional accounting background in a family-owned machine shop. The new San Diego (South) store is next to the intersection of I-805 and CA-905, and several miles from the San Ysidro Port of Entry, one of the busiest land border crossings in the world. Its positioning near major domestic and international thoroughfares primes Metal Supermarkets San Diego for a strong debut within the immediate market.

“San Diego has experienced a tremendous amount of development within the last decade. Even with the impact of the pandemic, industrial manufacturing and corporate development in our area has only expanded,” said Montalvo. “The location of our store is in the heart of an industrial area in Southern San Diego. We’re eager to provide new customers and business partners we’ve worked with for years with the metal products they need.”

The new store will be open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Customers in the San Diego area can call 619-816-4242 or email [email protected] to contact Metal Supermarkets and place an order.
