Metal Supermarkets Signs Franchise Agreement to Introduce Kamloops to Speed, Variety & Convenience for Small-Quantity Metals

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – A game-changing force in metal supply will soon make its way to Kamloops.

Metal Supermarkets, the world’s largest supplier of small-quantity metals, announced today that it has signed a franchise agreement to bring a fast and convenient metal supply option to businesses and consumers in Kamloops. The new location will be owned by Metal Supermarkets Kelowna franchisee Troy Trottier.

The seventh location in British Columbia, Metal Supermarkets Kamloops will offer over 8,000 types, shapes and grades of metal, cut to each customer’s exact specifications. Along with its convenience, speed and commitment to customer service, Metal Supermarkets will be the one-stop-shop for manufacturers, machinists, maintenance and repair, tool and die shops, hospitals, hotels, universities, schools, homeowners, artists, hobbyists and more in Kamloops.

“I’ve learned a lot about the business since opening my first Metal Supermarkets location four years ago and have gained the experience to expand our presence further north,” said Troy Trottier, owner of Metal Supermarkets in Kamloops and Kelowna. “We have several customers in Kamloops area who currently drive anywhere from two to four hours to get to our store in Kelowna. We recognize the need for our services in the Kamloops area in order to provide a faster, more convenient solution for the many metal users in Kamloops.”

Early in his career, Trottier owned businesses in the trucking, convenience store and carwash industries. After selling those businesses, he served as a sales and operations manager for an oil and gas service company. Four years ago, Trottier entered back into business ownership and opened his first Metal Supermarkets location in Kelowna. He looks forward to leveraging his previous entrepreneurial experience and knowledge of the brand to serve customers with his new location in Kamloops.

The franchise agreement for Kamloops comes amid a pivotal growth phase for the company. With locations open across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, Metal Supermarkets is executing a strategic expansion plan to add 50 new locations during the next four years in targeted markets, including Windsor and Cambridge, Ontario, a second London, England  store as well as US markets such as Austin, Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Sacramento and San Antonio. Designated as an essential business, Metal Supermarkets provides a recession-resistant, innovative and durable opportunity for interested franchise investors.

“We’re extremely confident in Troy’s ability to provide businesses and consumers in Kamloops with the exceptional customer experience Metal Supermarkets is known for,” said Stephen Schober, President & CEO of Metal Supermarkets. “He has already proven to be a top-notch owner, and we look forward to growing with him and supporting him as he expands his business into Kamloops.”

The second of Trottier’s locations is expected to open before the end of 2021. Metal Supermarkets is actively awarding locations to qualified individuals like Trottier, who have strong customer service experience. As the concept has grown in recent years, the Metal Supermarkets franchise opportunity is best suited for the owner-operator franchisee who is looking to build an income and create a lasting, profitable business in their local market. The moderate investment range for a Metal Supermarkets location is between $216,500 to $403,000, and qualified owners must have a minimum of $150,000 in liquid capital to be considered (USD). Qualified military veterans may be able take advantage of a $5,000 reduction off the initial franchise fee.
